broken
Falling Tear opened her eyes with a
groan. The ache at the base of her neck kept her from moving as
she tried and failed not to make a sound. She opened them
slowly, wincing as one only opened partially. With a deep
breath she placed her hand on the floor, pushing weakly to try
and sit up. With a sickening thud her head hit the stone floor
as her hand slipped out from under her. Lights flashed before
her eyes, blinding her for a moment in agony.
She froze as she heard a door creak in the darkness. A moment
later a lantern was lit near her feet, causing her to look away
as her eyes adjusted to the sudden intrusion of light into her
dark nightmare.
Falling Tear gasped, her feet scrambling on the slick floor as a
pair of slim, delicate hands reached down to gently move her
hair back from her eyes.
"Shh, little Dragon. It's ok, let me help." A gentle, musical
voice said from above her.
A whimper escaped Tears lips as the hands helped her to rise to
her feet. Her eyes widened as she looked around the room, she
grasped the helping hands as her knees started to give out at
the sight of all the blood pooled on the floor . . . her blood.
"Come on, you only have to make it down the hall. It's not so
far." The soft voice said in a soothing tone.
Tear concentrated on putting one foot in front of the other,
every step agony as her body was forced to obey commands it
didn't want her to give. It took an eternity to reach the door
at the end of the hall, agony spreading up her thighs and
running down her spine as she came to a stop in front of a bath.
With a silent curse for her body's betrayal she forced her head
up to look at the woman helping her to take off the remaining
shreds of her clothes. She was beautiful. She gave Tear a kind
smile as she noticed the girls attention, reaching up to move a
piece of hair that had fallen once again into her face. It was
the eyes that caught and held Tear's attention. They were a dark
vibrant green and there appeared to be stars floating through
them, blue stars. Tear tried to open her mouth to ask the
woman's name, but no sound would come out. Just a rasping croak
as the damage to her throat became obvious. She moved a hand up
to her throat and stopped, looking at the woman with wide,
scared eyes.
"Shh, best not to think about it child. The collar won't come
off unless She wills it to. Now come on, let's get you cleaned
up. You will feel better when we get all this grime off of you."
The woman said as she led the trembling girl into the warm
water. Tear closed her eyes, sending a silent prayer to anyone
who might listen as the water around her turned pink, the woman
gently washing her hair. Silent tears ran down her face, making
clean tracks along her cheeks. All she wanted was home, and she
knew she would never see it again. She would die in this place,
surrounded by demons and strangers, and one kind woman who made
her miss everything she would never have again.
